Imagine our surprise when we took a break from stanning VH1 Soul yesterday to watch Oprah only to see a familiar face on the widescreen. No, not Vera Wang, but none other than singer/songwriter/musician Martin Luther during a segment about the new film Across the Universe. Luther (billed as Martin Luther McCoy in the film) makes his theatrical debut in the 1960's love story/musical set to the music of the Beatles.
If we had been up on our okayplayer daily bread, then we would have already known that Martin Luther was not only on Oprah Friday but live on Good Morning America earlier in the day as well with other cast members. We missed him on GMA, but we caught his performance and Oprah Winfrey giving the flick her stamp of approval, which is pretty much golden. This is truly a good look for him.
And speaking of good looks, peep the video of the cast of Across the Universe on Oprah before Da Man takes it down:
Across the Universe opens nationwide in theaters on September 21, 2007.
