Diggin’ In the Crates: A Masterful Nina Simone Remix

nina_simone.jpgSo I was traipsing through the Soulman's spot recently when a commenter brought up Nina Simone's "See-Line Woman (Remix)" and I thought, "Well, yeah!" It probably doesn't get much more dope than this. (Do I use "dope" too much? Deal.) Originally from Broadway-Blues-Ballads, Louie Vega and Kenny Dope don't overdo it with the enhancements. They extend the track with slight, additional instrumentation to not take away from the spirit of the track.

Common, Talib Kweli, Mary J. Blige and Timbaland have all benefited from Nina's work. Is there any wonder why? Respect.

  1. This remix is perfection. I can't sit still when this one comes on.

  2. This is a really good remix. It was on the first Verve Remixed CD (I think). There are other gems on that CD, too.

  3. Yup, RKJ, the Sarah Vaughan on there is tight as well.

  4. Tight remix...Oh Ms. Nina...Yeah Common got her on his Misunderstood track!
