Mos Def Narrates ‘Prince Among Slaves,’ Premiering Tonight on PBS

Get your DVR's ready, people. As part of their Black History Month programming, tonight PBS will premiere the epic documentary Prince Among Slaves, narrated by Mos Def. Prince Among Slaves tells the harrowing true story of Abdul Rahman Ibrahima Sori, a West African prince and general in his father's army, who was captured as a prisoner of war and sold into slavery in Natchez, Mississippi in 1788.

Mos Def and director of re-enactments Bill Duke can be seen talking about the documentary above.

Prince Among Slaves premieres tonight at 10 PM EST on PBS. Check your local listings for exact times and dates of additional airings.

  2. Thanks for posting this. My sister did the talent co-ordination as well as worked as a researcher and production associate on this project. It was a lot of work for her and the rest of her team so the acknowledgment is deserved.
    Finally, thanks for picking up some of the writing I've been doing at DCist, namely the Muhsinah pieces and Eric Roberson show review. I have to say I was geeked when I opened up my email and unexpectedly saw something I had written.
