At Long Last, Labelle is ‘Back to Now’

labelle.jpgLabelle, the groovy disco/R&B trio whose first album debuted in 1971, are putting the finishing touches on their reunion project, the appropriately entitled Back to Now, which will be released by Verve Records October 21st. The ladies--Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash--are hoping to stay true to their original, eclectic sound, working on the disc with high end producers such as Lenny Kravitz, Wyclef Jean and the legendary team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Of course, this isn't the first time the group has reunited, doing so twice this decade--once to honor Patti on BET's 2001 Walk of Fame telecast and again in 2005 to honor her 45 years in show business. This reunion can't come soon enough for me. I mean, sure I can't wait to see if they come out wearing the feathers and space-aged suits, but really, raise your hand if you're like me and can't wait to hear Patti wailing over a Kravitz riff! Word.
