As the release date for The Way I See It, Raphael Saadiq's forthcoming '60s-stylized album, nears comes the leak of more tracks. The last track released was beautiful and mesmerizing in my mind, while "Big Easy," an uptempo finger-popping lament for the return of his love, just screams for a video showcasing Saadiq in slim, Italian cut suits and skinny black ties. Of course, with the title of this track and the sassy, jazzy horns so indicative of New Orleans brass bands, I wouldn't mind seeing Saadiq showcasing those arms wearing a dapper straw hat, sweating from the sultry Orleanian heat. Oh, I'm sorry if I digressed. Raphael's music seems to keep having that effect on me these days. And I'm willing to bet that when the album drops, you'll be able to come up with more fantasy dreamscapes of your own whilst in the middle of his '60s-sounding sonic melodies.
