Next week in Washington, DC women will be taking the music and arts scene over. That's right, it's time again for the Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival, the annual gathering of female music and visual artists in our nation's capital. This year marks the fourth Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival, and it keeps getting better and better. Last year saw Sy Smith, Bahamadia and MC Lyte rock the mic right, and this year will be no exception with the sista's scheduled to perform. Bounce-Worthy artists Ayah, Nola Darling, Alison Carney and Teisha Marie are on tap alongside seasoned songstresses such as Jean Baylor, Angela Johnson, Yahzarah and N'dambi. In addition to the phenomenal women on the mic, CASRAM will also
highlight other facets of female artistic expression with a production
of The Saartjie Project and a screening of NO! The Rape Documentary.
The festival begins on Wednesday, October 8th in the heart of Washington, DC's historic U Street area and culminates in a free grand finale concert in Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, October 11th. To make sure that you don't miss a beat, the complete Can A Sista Rock A Mic? schedule can be found after the bounce.
