Wale Takes a Walk Down 'Warwick Avenue' with Duffy

wale_duffy.jpgThis remix of Duffy's "Warwick Avenue" proves that perhaps her music might be more useful as a hook than as a standalone single. The original is standard '60s revival fare, but here Wale makes it much more interesting as a foil to his side of the story; he responds to Duffy's solemn, empty-feeling chorus in a way that makes her sentiments feel as disingenuous as the record crackling audible at the beginning of the track. Wale is good here, turning a mediocre song into a decent remix. That said, I have to ask: why has there been a rise in men mentioning the menses in songs? Weezy, Ray J, and now Wale. To his credit, though, Wale doesn't liken it to VD or a flesh wound. Otherwise, Duffy might just leave him sitting at the "Warwick Avenue" tube station to ponder why he'll be comma-ing alone that night. [H/T: OKP/OS]
