Rappers' Desire To Be 'Scarface' Realized With 'City of God's Son'

Cinematically, 2009 looks as though it is off to a great start. Not only do we have Black Dynamite to look forward to with its humorous take on the gangster side of life, but now we have a more somber portrayal of street life with City of God's Son. While it is being unfortunately categorized as a "Hip Hop opera," this film shows major promise. Comprised of 60 minute audio with moving pictures, think of this movie as a less technicolor-drenched Belly. Speaking of Belly, God's Son stars Nas (get it?), as well as Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah, with a supporting cast consisting of Notorious B.I.G., Raekwon, Laurence Fishburne, Delroy Lindo, and Samuel L. Jackson. It's also being called a "beat cinematic" by creator Kenzo Digital and will include Fania Records legend Joe Bataan on the soundtrack as well. Beat junkies and all other interested parties get ready. Check the trailer below, and the official website for a free download as well.
