The Director's Chair: Breaking Down Ne-Yo's 'Part Of The List'

Once again it's on. It's your boy Mac coming to you from The Director's Chair. Today I am going to be breaking down Ne-Yo's latest music video "Part Of The List." This video is a perfect example of how flashing lights and special effects are not needed to make a great visual.

Directed by Taj, here we see Ne-Yo in his most vulnerable state. He is visiting overseas and sees his ex in a record store. They exchange pleasantries then she tells him that she is engaged and introduces him to her finance. This leads to Ne-Yo reminisce about his old love. They spend some quality time together catching up and the old feelings start to resurface. Simple concept, right? But the beauty of it is Taj's attention to detail. Here he decides to connect the storyline from Ne-Yo's last video "Mad" with the storyline here making this video a prequel of sorts. His current girlfriend reads the text that the woman
sends him, which reads "Baby last night was fun," and that leads to their big argument which ends with Ne-Yo storming out and getting hit by a car.

"Part Of The List" is a visual masterpiece that was shot on location in Prague, Czech Republic. Whatever you do make sure you add this video to the part of the list for R&B music video of the year.
