What Special Ed Has ‘Made’ Of Himself

Can you believe that Special Ed was only 15 years old when he signed his first recording contract? And although it seems like just yesterday, it's been 20 years since his first single, "I Got It Made," hit the airwaves. Island Insider TV, and host Marlie Hall, recently caught up with Ed, who is from the island of Jamaica (by way of Brooklyn), and touched on a wide array of subjects, including his belief that hip-hop is of Jamaican descent, the importance of making ones own way in life, as well as what he's working on now. It's good to see the self-proclaimed "numero uno" is still doing music, and not just making cameos on sitcoms. Heh. Props to Marlie for the linkage.

  2. special ed hasn't aged well. i wouldn't necessarily call him a pioneer, but he was a part of hip hop's golden age with 2 or 3 hit singles to his credit.

  3. Great interview. I'm glad to get an update on Special Ed. His music is still dope, even twenty-something years later. He definitely left a positive impression on many of us, and I commend him for that.
