Wale Keeps On ‘Rising’ With TV Showcase

DC native and SoulBounce fave Olubowale Victor Folarin, better known as Wale, is getting his due on the national stage after recently taping a Rising Icons special for BET, airing this week. The rapper, of course, rose to prominence in DC due to his mixtapes, and um, rose up last year while guesting on The Roots' "Rising Up" along with Chrisette Michele (who was the first Icons artist earlier this summer). Now, with a new album on the way next month entitled Attention: Deficit, the spotlight is all his. Icons, which is sponsored by Grey Goose, is a great look for the much-maligned entertainment network, as it allows artists who are just on or below the radar to showcase their talents during a 30-minute set that also includes extended interviews. Next up are singers Keri Hilson and the lovely (did I mention lovely?) Melanie Fiona. Check the video from Wale's special below.

  1. Wale is the next generation, kid has been putting out good material for a hot minute, the risk with that is, alot of cats stay underground so long, that they release their best material on mix tapes that most of the public will never hear. Wale needs to drop his LP now...

  2. Not a fan of this dude. He's WAY to cocky and not the cute Kanye cocky.

  3. I've been a fan of Wale for a while; he's constantly growing with his music. Can't wait for his LP to drop....
