Prepare To Be Amazed With Shabazz Palaces' 'Bellhaven Meridian'

The other night I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of director Kahlil Joseph and cinematographer Matt Lloyd, both of whom worked on a video for "Bellhaven Meridan", a song by the elusive Shabazz Palaces. Attempting to find information about Shabazz Palaces seems to bring you to the same end: a Hip Hop collective from Seattle fronted by Ishmael Butler a/k/a Butterfly from Digable Planets. With that out of the way, let's focus on the awesomeness of this video. It's shot in black-and-white, shot on location in Los Angeles, and has one mind-blowing twist: this video, all 3 minutes and 25 seconds, of it has been shot as one take. Yes, you read that right. Do you know just how logistically difficult that is??? Trust me. It is about as possible as trying to teleport from where you are to anywhere you may hope to be. In short, I love this video. It's impressive and beautiful. And the music is great. I can unequivocally say that this is the best video I have seen this year, nay, in many years past. Want to hear more Shabazz Palaces?
