Five Artists Who We'd Like To Hear Sade Duet With

For as long as Sade has been around, she has never done a proper duet. Stronger Than Pride's "Nothing Can Come Between Us," which prominently featured background singer Leroy Osbourne's vocals, is the closest that we've gotten. Needless to say, after 26 years it's way past time for Sade to add a duet to her discography. But who should she collaborate with? That's where we come in. We've thought long and hard about five male artists who would provide the perfect partner for Ms. Adu should she ever decide on making beautiful with them. Not that any of these duets will actually happen, but a website can dream can't it?

Prince

I think a duet between Sade and Prince would be mind-blowing--not because they look so much alike but because they are such masters of their craft that the musical combination would be something that has never been seen yet. I predict that a musical mating of these two would be a funk lucid dream--think "Purple Rain," mixed with "Soldier of Love" and stirred with "Adore." The inevitable awesomeness would be crazy...hot damn. -- Moon

Maxwell

A Maxwell and Sade duet is a no-brainer. Why this hasn't already happened, I don't know. But what I do know is that a Maxwell and Sade duet would be an EPIC WIN. Maxwell has previously worked with Sade bandmember Stuart Matthewman, who produced Max's first two albums and wrote songs on his third. And we can't forget their collaboration on the first Sweetback album. Can you say "hook a brotha up"? -- Butta

Raheem DeVaughn

Raheem DeVaughn's voice is a chameleon. Yes, he can sing hooks on the gulliest of raps, but when it's time for him to get sexy all he has to do is a flip switch and it's on. Plus he's an old pro and singing duets with a variety of female voices (Floetry, Nivea). If you got your hands on his "Soldier of Love" Remix from his Mr. February aka March Madness mixtape then that gave you a little taste of what his voice may sound like with Ms. Adu's. I'd like to hear something tailor made for these two, however. It's a stretch, but I think it may work. -- Butta

Omar

You can't have a list of people Sade should duet with without including some of her British brethren. And Omar is just the person who would set it off something fierce and funky with Sade. Can you imagine these two together? Even if all Omar did was produce a song for Sade, that would be something serious. -- Butta

Tony Momrelle

I see that puzzled look on your face, but let me put you up on game. In the event that the name Tony Momrelle doesn't ring a bell, maybe Incognito and Reel People will, which are two groups that this phenomenal vocalist is a part of. But what really seals the deal for me on why Tony should sing a duet with Sade is because he's in her band and can be heard all over the Soldier of Love album (in particular check for him on "Babyfather" to hear their voices intertwine). That's right, the talented Mr. Momrelle holds it down alongside veteran Sade background singer Osbourne and has for the past decade. His voice already blends perfectly with hers so if she ever gets the notion to do a duet one day, then she won't have to look too far. -- Butta

Now that you've seen our picks for who Sade should link up with, tell us who you would like to hear Sade do a duet with--if anyone?
