Something really interesting occurs at around the four minute mark in this video while Georgia Anne Muldrow gets interviewed by Russell Taylor for Centric TV. She explains,
I remember in the '90s...there was this Rock-Grunge era and I seen that all them white people could do whatever it is that they wanted to do...and it was just the deepest stuff...and all the while we got people in shiny suits...still having to entertain. And I remember early on [thinking], "You know what? I'm [going] to do whatever I want to do...and be true to the art that wants to express through me."
