Pardon me for forgetting that Kelis had a nice voice. While we reported back in November that we weren't exactly feeling this song, the video may help it grow on us a little more. When Kelis brought all of the boys to the yard with her "Milkshake" in 2004, she kept the chops under wraps in the name of dance fever. Quickly, I forgot about her vocal chops delivered on songs like Ol' Dirty Bastard's 1999 anthem "Got Your Money," which was one of the highlights of that song for me. And, while Kelis' turn to House diva may not wear well with us entirely, her new single "Acapella" topped Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart earlier this month and is now number one on Music Week's Pop Club Chart in the U.K. With her new video release for the song, Kelis brings eclectic visuals once again, showcasing her goddess physique painted gold and illustrating the fun that can be had with feathers and hair extensions. She even gives us a glimpse of her infant son, Knight, who is strapped to her back in warrior-earth-mama style. With vivid colors, eclectic stylizing and Kelis as stunning as ever, whether you like the song or not, you can't help but call this video something worth peeping.
