The King Of Pop Reigns Supreme

It looks as if Michael Jackson's reign over the music industry will not be coming to an end anytime soon, thanks to a recent deal struck between the late entertainer's estate and Sony Music Entertainment. The unprecedented deal, reportedly worth over 200 million dollars, is considered the biggest recording deal in history. Under the contract, Sony will release 10 projects from Jackson in a seven-year period. Among the first projects to be confirmed are a DVD compilation of videos and a re-release of Jackson's classic 1979 album, Off the Wall. A two-disc album that accompanied the recent release of This Is It is also considered part of the contract, which is set to end in 2017. Another album, due in November, is said to include previously unreleased music.

In a statement released on Tuesday, John Branca, a
co-administrator of the estate, expressed how the deal will keep
Jackson's musical legacy alive. "During his life, Michael's contracts
set the standard for the industry," he said. "By all objective criteria,
this agreement with Sony Music demonstrates the lasting power of
Michael's music by exceeding all previous industry benchmarks.
