Brutha Can Do It 'Anywhere'

The brothers of Brutha have certainly gotten the attention of the sisters of SoulBounce with these remakes of some of our favorite '90s R&B jams on their newly released mixtape, Destination: Short Stay. We gave you a heads up last week that this joint was coming with their twist on Jodeci's "Freek'N You" and now that the mixtape is here the first song that I almost broke a nail pulling up on iTunes was their version of 112's "Anywhere." The risk to my manicure was worth it, because their rendition is pretty good. I'm not sure which of the Harrell brothers is singing lead on this, but he makes it his own and doesn't try to sound like Slim, whose tone is pretty hard to match. I'm assuming that another brother performs the rap later in the tune, but I actually prefer Lil Zane's original set of bars. Overall, though, this is a dope R&B throwback. Now if only Brutha's original songs sounded this good they'd be on to something. Peep the mixtape's tracklisting after the bounce.
