Tabi Bonney has won me over with this new video, "Nuthin But a Hero." The absence of trendy cool and contrived swagger makes this video one of Bonney's best to date. It is absolutely perfection in my eyes--from the beautiful cinematography to the green message, Tabi shows us that he is a grown-up and uses this video as both a platform for a message about conservation and a vehicle to show us who he is now as an artist. The split screen works in this video for me as well, especially since I actually saw the 2007 movie The Tracey Fragments on Netflix this past weekend where use of this editing trick becomes a focal point of the film. It works well here as does Tabi's suited look against the city backdrop of Washington, DC. The kryptonite metaphor and the actual act of heroism is what I loved most. Whether or not you are a fan of Tabi Bonney's lyrical style, you will definitely find this video enjoyable and even become compelled to check out what other musical gifts Mr. Bonney has to offer. My final word on this piece? Excellent.
