My ex-husband-in-my-head and the irrepressibly sexy Chiwetel Ejiofor is slated to play Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti in a new biopic to be released possibly in 2011 or 2012. While still in the script-writing stages and slated to be helmed by director Steve McQueen, this casting of Chiwetel as Fela has us doing a little happy dance. We're only hoping that this film is as good as the musical FELA! that snagged 11 Tony Award nominations and has enchanted Broadway audiences with Kuti's incredible story and music. We'll see how all of this pans out once the movie comes to the big screen. [H/T: SAA]
