'For Colored Girls' Soundtrack To Feature Some Of Our Favorite Female Vocalists

Any apprehension that I may have about the theatrical release of the feature film For Colored Girls is nowhere near present with news of the movie's soundtrack and the litany of extraordinary female talent who have contributed new and previously unreleased music to the project. The tracklisting for the For Colored Girls soundtrack reads like a laundry list of some of our favorite singers here at SoulBounce. Included on this collection are songs by Lalah Hathaway, Ledisi, Laura Izibor, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Janelle Monáe, just to name a few. Interestingly enough, Janet Jackson does not have a solo song on the record. However, she is joined by the rest of the film's cast on the album's first track, but it is unknown as of now if there'll be any singing involved. Regardless, this is something to definitely get excited about. Could this release usher in a return of the movie soundtrack? Time will tell, but I surely can't wait to find out when it's released on November 2nd. Take a look at the tracklisting after the bounce.
