Lauryn Hill & The Roots Show Some ‘Love’

I, too, often forget that when I'm filming things with my cell phone that I must turn the device so as to capture a video that doesn't make it seem as though I was looking through a keyhole. Despite the fact that this video of Lauryn Hill performing with The Roots at Michael J. Fox's annual fundraiser to benefit Parkinson's Disease research is narrow in perspective, it's great to hear L-Boogie doing the damn thing to the Bob Marley & The Wailers' classic "Is This Love." Because The Roots were her backing band, there was the requisite tuba that I can kind of make out if I squint hard enough, but if anything this video serves as a sign that Lauryn--pardon me, Ms. Hill--could be coming back in a major way much to the delight of some disheartened fans who endured her Rock The Bells performances this past summer. Only time will tell but in the meantime we at least have this.

  1. What distracts me is that between the camera and the stage, there appear to be 300 different rhythms going on. They appear to be swaying to a beat nobody else can hear.
