Willow Smith Whipped It Good On Ellen Degeneres

The offspring of The Fresh Prince, Will Smith and the richest elf on television, Jada Pinkett-Smith, have arrived. While your kids are kicking cans in the street, Jaden Smith is starring in movies and Willow Smith is promoting her debut album. The lead single from that album, the infectious and inescapable "Whip My Hair," has surely made one or two of your zealous cousins whip a wig right the hell off in a club. Now, it's evident that the song itself was either originally intended for or was written before a shrine to the First Lady of Marginal Talent, Rihanna. But that's alright; we all need role models, right? Keeping in line with the fun, upbeat mood of the song and its accompanying video, Willow made her television debut this week on the Ellen Degeneres Show. The fact that she opened by singing a line from RiRi's "Only Girl In The World" then did more choreography here than Rihanna's done in her entire life, only made me like her more. She's already more entertaining and energetic than her idol. Look at her snatching wigs at nine years old. It's a beautiful thing. Maintaining relevance is an entirely different issue. For now, though, I really enjoy Lil Willow and the lighthearted product she's serving up.
