La Roux Goes 'In For The Kill' In Times Square

I adore La Roux. I stumbled across the group along with the rest of
America after their single "In For The Kill" was featured on an episode
of HBO's Entourage. The British electro-pop duo's style
struck a chord with me, and vocalist Elly Jackson's voice proved
unforgettable. While she doesn't have the Adele's husky voice or Amy
Winehouse
's raspy smoker's charm, Jackson and partner Ben Langmaid have constructed a pretty dope sound, and, naturally,
Kanye West
took notice. Last year he jumped on a remix of "In For The
Kill," and later tapped Elly to appear on "That's My Bitch," also
featuring Jay-Z, which will likely appear on their forthcoming joint
album Watch The Throne. She also appears on "All of the Lights" on Ye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, along with every other recording artist on earth. Teaming up with VEVO, La Roux offered a stripped down performance
of the single in Times Square recently. Whereas the original is
high-octane, electronic and loud, this version is "nice, quiet, and calm," according to Elly. It's a welcome mellow, guitar-driven chill out moment. She also gives some background on the group and the
creation of the song. See also: "Bulletproof."
