Along with the likes of Electric Wire Hustle, Benny Tones, Ladi6, and Julian Dyne, Fat Freddy's Drop are flying the flag for Antipodean soul music. Their brand of dub-heavy, reggae-soul has gained them an international fan base allowing them to tour globally. I haven't been lucky enough to catch them live as yet, but I'm hoping that will change when they hit London for a gig this summer--by all accounts they have to be seen to be believed. To celebrate their one-stop visit to London's Brixton Academy (click here to buy tickets) they teamed up with The Electric to release a free remix of "Flashback," a highlight from their 2005 debut, Based On A True Story. Sabira Jade's vocal and Pugs Atomz's flow sit beautifully alongside the soulful crooning of FFD frontman Joe Dukie, and, of course, DJ Vadim adds some great flourishes to an already killer track.
