It's been a long time coming for new music from rapper/songwriter/singer Novel and not surprisingly his latest single more than meets the high expectations I have for him. Like the proficiency of a well-rounded athlete he complements his soulful voice with electronic sounds in "Vanilla Sky," the video for which surfaced online this week. Directed by the artist himself, it features a touching ballet routine from the talented dancer/choreographer Sora Connor. It was all just a dream for the couple in this song that borrows the common theme of unrequited love. This gentleman is truly gifted, and I've been waiting for an album from him since he was promoting the unreleased Audiobiography EP in 2009. Luckily the sky is the limit for Novel as Calligraphy is apparently set to be released sometime in the near future.
