Q-Tip's 'Thing' Is Still 'Vivrant' On This Remix

Twelve years later, Q-Tip's 1999 banger "Vivrant Thing" is still as hot as it was when it first dropped. It will always take me back to high school, as I distinctly remember that this is the song that played when I got busted for driving dad's Jeep with only a learner's permit. Ah, the memories. Though the jury is still out on what exactly "vivrant" means, the song has been a staple on my workout playlist for quite some time. Swedish producer Jens Helge (aka Jazzy Jens) went to work on it, giving the classic a disco makeover. Jens brings the sample that inspired the track (Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra's "I Wanna Stay") to the forefront, trading thumping bass for the more popular strings-heavy sound of the day (1975). He alternates between focus on the original and the update, and the result is, basically, a party. Check it out below.
