If you're scratching your head as to who Antonique Smith is, don't worry, you're not alone. The actress didn't appear on my radar until I had the dubious pleasure of seeing the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious. Antonique played Faith Evans in the movie (and did a pretty outstanding job, considering). What I didn't know is that, like her movie counterpart, this girl can sing. She recently uploaded a video of herself singing Adele's "Someone Like You" to her YouTube channel, and I must say, I'm impressed. Unlike other Adele covers, she actually does the song justice without trying too hard. Upon further digging, singing is nothing new for Ms. Smith as she has a musical theater background. Before landing her role in Notorious, she played Mimi in a production of Rent, and if you type her name into the search bar for YouTube you'll get several videos showcasing her powerful vocals. Her film career is picking up and she'll be gracing screens in two upcoming movies, Yelling to the Sky and Abduction, but I hope along the way she'll find time to release a single or two.
