Anybody that knows me knows that I have a soft spot in my heart for men with beards. Be it thin, fuzzy, tapered or Ricky Rozay-style, a face full of facial hair just does something to me. It's a double win when said bearded man is actually good at what he does, much like Ohio emcee Stalley. He first made his way across my radar when he opened up for Jay Electronica down here in New Orleans. Even though the crowd was filled with annoying little hipsters who could only see as far as the latest trend, Stalley managed to grip the crowd's attention in a way the night's previous acts had not. Since then, I've been keeping an eye (and ear) tuned into this young man. And thanks to his damn-near spectacular mixtape, Lincoln Way Nights: Intelligent Trunk Music, the buzz surrounding him has only intensified, with plans to re-release the mixtape this fall through SMC/Fontana. In the meantime, he's blessing fans with his latest video, "Chevys and Space Ships." Filled with slick, space-age graphics, he packs a powerful punch in this way-too-short clip. Between the smoothed out beat, his throwback flow (and of course, that beard), it's hard to resist the urge to hop on board Team Stalley.
