Shaolin Jazz Gives It Up For Gil With 'The Gil Scott Suite'

Shaolin Jazz, the collaboration between DJ 2-Tone Jones and marketer Gerald Watson, made musical headlines earlier this year by blending classic Wu-Tang Clan a cappellas over vintage jazz grooves for a head-nodding experience. Well, the collaboration is back, and this time they're paying tribute to the late Gil Scott-Heron with The Gil Scott Suite. Only consisting of three tracks, the set still packs quite the punch. Take, for instance, the opening track "Gil's Pinky Ring (pt. 1)." The mash-up of Wu's "Uzi (Pinky Ring)" and Gil's "The Bottle" is amazing in how seamless it is. As with Shaolin Jazz - The 37th Chamber, the entire project is available to you for the low, low price of free.99.  Take a listen to "Gil's Pinky Ring (pt. 1)" below or go hear the entire collection on SoundCloud now. Then head here to download the entire project.
