Someone who has sorely been missing from the soul music scene is Tamia. Her last studio album was 2006's Between Friends, and there's been chatter of a new one in the works since 2010 but no new music. Until now. My favorite singer with freckles (next to Eric Roberson, that is) has returned in a major way with her new single "Beautiful Surprise," from the upcoming album of the same name. With a wink and a nod to her hit "So Into You" from her self-titled debut, "Beautiful Surprise" is a breezy mid-tempo groove showcasing her gorgeous voice, which sounds as good as it did when she first put a move on our hearts back in 1995 on Q's Jook Joint. This time around, Salaam Remi is holding down production and Claude Kelly cowrote the song with Tamia who has already filmed a video for it with her hubby Grant Hill starring as her beautiful surprise. Tamia sings like a woman in love, and her joy is so contagious you'll want to sing along with her ooh's and ahh's. Tamia's return may have been long overdue, but this track proves that it's clearly been worth the wait. [H/T: YBF]
