'The Daily Show' Gets 'Crowned & Kissed' By Esperanza Spalding's 'Black Gold'

Esperanza Spaulding has been putting in major work these days. To promote her latest album, Radio Music Society, she's been hitting the late night talk show circuit hard. Last night, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was the most recent show to be graced with her ridiculous talent and beauty. The ever-humble musician blessed the audience with two performances, "Black Gold" and "Crowned & Kissed." As usual, Spalding and her backing band, complete with a horn section and my fave up-and-comer Chris Turner on vocals, knocked it out the park, leaving host Jon Stewart in awe. I was beyond excited when she performed one of my faves from the album, "Crowned & Kissed." She also showcased her sense of humor during her brief interview with Stewart, explaining to him the meaning of her band's name, Radio Music Society, and explaining how the genre determines how a bassist holds his instrument. Seriously, the lady with the crystal clear voice can do no wrong in my book. And the fact that she rocks the hell out of the bass only makes me that much more of a stan fan.
