Dear TLC, Don't Go Chasing Holograms

It's hard to believe that just a little over 10 years ago Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was taken from us in that tragic accident. With the infamous Tupac hologram still fresh in our minds, we are hit with the news of a potential TLC reunion tour. That's Chilli, T-Boz, and Left Eye. When I first saw the video of Mr. Shakur emerging from that Coachella stage I won't lie, I was psyched. Mildly creeped out, but still psyched nonetheless. I am also all for tributes and would be the first to say that Dr. Dre, Snoop, and Coachella did a fine job with their Tupac tribute, but there was something undeniably missing from that performance -- personality and charisma. The attributes of these fallen stars simply cannot be replicated, regardless of how lifelike the projected image is. A hologram can't George Jefferson stroll out of a courtroom and it sure as hell can't inadvertently burn a house down. Their spontaneity was just one of the many reasons why we loved them. So I'd like to urge us all to stop chasing holograms in an attempt to bring back those that we have lost. Gimmicky trends die hard, but legends live forever.
