After several years as a backing singer, and sharing the stage with SBTRKT, Jessie Ware finally got to headline her own show at The Nave in London last month. By all accounts Ms. Ware blew the roof off the joint, performing to a sold out crowd eager to hear what she had been cooking up in the studio alongside producers Dave Okumu and Julio Bashmore. We have to wait a while longer for her PMR Records debut, Devotion, as it's slated for an August 20th release in the UK (no word on a US release yet), but Pitchfork has released a very nice video combining Jessie's live performance with footage of her preparing for the show and discussing her upcoming release. On the strength of singles "Strangest Feeling," "Running" and "110%," as well as the stunning Sampha collaboration, "What You Won't Do For Love," I'd say that Devotion will be an essential addition to your collection.
