Don't you just love it when a cover song is done the right way? Where the original song is still apparently there, but it's all dressed up in shiny new finery? I don't know about you, but that kind of thing just makes my day. Like most SoulBouncers, I think that Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" is a stone jam. Every time it pops on, undivided attention I have. So what happens when Miss Jessie Ware and Sampha take it on? Well, two makes everything go right and out of sight as Ware and Sampha put a mad killing on Caldwell's 1978 classic as they stick to their chill-out electronic formula, but manage to exert such soulful elegance. Also as a sweet topper they interpolate Aaliyah's "Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number" into the mix to give it a little '90's R&B seasoning. Sure, Phyllis Hyman and Peabo Bryson with Natalie Cole have been many whom have executed this track masterfully, but this has become my favorite rendition by far. Don't believe me? Just take a listen and if you've got a Facebook, then download away from Jessie's fan page for no price at all.
