Def Jam may have recognized its 25th anniversary in 2009, but that milestone for the legendary label is still cause for celebration with the release late last year of the coffee table book, Def Jam: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label. DMV Bouncers will have an opportunity to pay homage to the label that defined hip-hop music and culture when the Def Jam 25 Celebration rolls into Washington, DC on Saturday, June 16th at the Lincoln Theatre. The event will include a discussion with numerous hip-hop luminaries including EPMD, Maseo from De La Soul, Bill Adler, Cey Adams and Buggs from Junkyard Band and performances by local talent including Maimouna Youssef, Carolyn Malachi, Tabi Bonney, Gods'Illa and headlined by EPMD. The evening will be capped with a tribute to MCA of the Beastie Boys who passed away last month. If you are a DMV hip-hop head, then this is surely an event that needs to be on your calendar. We're giving away two pairs of tickets to this event courtesy of HedRush Music, and all you have to do to enter is fill out the entry form after the bounce. Tickets are also on sale via the Lincoln Theatre box office or Ticketmaster. However, if you'd like to save some money on Ticketmaster fees (and who doesn't), then tickets may be purchased directly from HedRush Music. Send them an email at dj25dc [@] hedrushmusic.com with the subject line "Def Jam 25 referred by SoulBounce" and they'll take care of you.
