While I was completely sold on Misha B's talent when she appeared on the UK's X Factor last year, her debut single, "Home Run," didn't quite blow me away as I had hoped it would. However, that has now changed after watching her perform an acoustic version of the club banger for i-D online's i-N Session series. As soon as the guitar chords rang out she had my attention and, stripped of the original's excesses and pop sheen, this acoustic version really showcases why she was hailed by many as "one to watch" even after getting voted off the reality show. Her voice has a unique twist to it and you can tell she is brimming with a raw power that, when unleashed, could really blow other pop stars out of the water. Here though, Misha keeps things relatively restrained, while still managing to give us glimpses of exactly what that voice is capable of. Stylistically speaking, I can see her falling in line somewhere between Missy Elliott's quirkiness and Lauryn Hill's raw soulfulness, but only time will tell if her major label home will give her enough room to grow into the artist she has the potential to be.
