Whitney Houston & Jordin Sparks Give Us A Reason To 'Celebrate'

Where has the year gone? I mean, seriously. It seems as if it was just yesterday that we got the tragic news of Whitney Houston's passing and the subsequent news that her final film project, Sparkle, would be rushed to theaters in August. The month of Whitney's birth seemed so far away then, but it's only a few weeks away from the movie's August 17th premiere and the promotion machine is in gear with the release of the music video for the soundtrack's lead single, "Celebrate." A joyous Whitney is seen via clips from the movie in the posthumous video while her duet partner and movie daughter, Jordin Sparks, and other cast members including Tika Sumpter, Carmen Ejogo, Derek Luke, Omari Hardwick, Mike Epps and Goapele join her for good old-fashioned house party. These visuals are a fun treatment for this happy, upbeat song. Although the ending did leave me a little moist around the eyeballs, those tears I shed were tears of joy and not of sorrow at viewing this celebration of Whitney Houston.
