Sneak A Peek Of Queen Latifah, Jill Scott & More In 'Steel Magnolias'

When it was first announced back in March, the all-black remake of '80's drama Steel Magnolias was met with both interest and cries of "Why?" and "What for?" While the announcement of its star-studded cast (which includes Queen Latifah, Jill Scott, Phylicia Rashad, Alfre Woodard, Pariah's Adepero Oduye and recent Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad -- who happens to be Phylicia's daughter) calmed some of the skepticism down, most are still wondering what exactly they can expect of the production. Last night, they got a brief answer when Lifetime released a trailer for the project. While most of the film's original plot points seem to be in tact, judging by the clothing and the Beyoncé reference, they've updated the time to present day. Everyone seems to be doing a serviceable job, though I'm not sure if I'm buying Queen as the mother of a twenty-something Condola (why didn't they just cast Phylicia in the mother role?). Though no exact premiere date has been set for the film, it is scheduled to air on Lifetime sometime this fall. Check out the clip for yourself below and let us know what you think.
