Frank Ocean has been the name on everyone's lips in the past week. Whether you knew who he was, loved his work as many of us here at SoulBounce do or don't feel any particular way about him, he has been the hot topic of discussion for opening up about his love for a man and subsequently releasing his album Channel Orange earlier than expected. Which makes Malaysian born singer Yuna's timing pretty much on the money, with her releasing a cover of Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You" just in time to capitalize on his current fame. Not that I can blame her. "Thinkin Bout You" is a beautifully written song that has a certain appeal, which has led to it being covered by assorted artists with varying degrees of success. But what makes Yuna's version stand out from the rest is that she definitely put her individual stamp on the track. Giving it a delicate, sweet feel that is in contrast to Ocean's original, she freshens and lightens the track by making her voice, through harmonies and looping, the definite star of this cover.
