Jesse Boykins III and MeLo-X are prepping for the release of their collaborative album, Zulu Guru, this fall and they're giving us another sample from the project to vibe out to with some fresh visuals in the Dr. Woo-directed video for "The Perfect Blues." We were introduced to this track earlier this year via the Red Bull Music Academy's Various Assets - Not For Sale compilation that found JBIII going it solo on this song produced by Gora Sou, a fellow alumni of RBMA where they linked up in 2011. Some magic these two made together with Jesse's vocals taking on an ethereal quality and the music video complementing it all rather nicely. A dancer on a beach interprets the song while the screen is washed in blue to match the song's title and the tone of the piece. The color palette moves from washed out to super bright with some creative editing from Dr. Woo. Shot on location in Tokyo, Boykins may be in a foreign land, but he seems right at home.
