Flying Lotus Gets Animated For His 'Putty Boy Strut"

With less than two weeks to go until the October 2nd release of Until the Quiet Comes, Flying Lotus continues to draw us in to his experimental sound. This time around, he's produced a video his track "Putty Boy Strut." Unlike "See Thru to U," his collaboration with Erykah Badu, this track is completely instrumental, allowing us to hear what inventiveness lurks in the eclectic producer's mind as he turns disparate noises into a sort of electronic jazz. Picking up on the mechanical stutter-stop and computer beeps of the track, animator Cyriak imagines a robotic world were a lone bot goes astray, devouring it bot by bot. Eventually all the chaos and destruction leads to a rebirth of sorts, creating a life form that the planet hadn't seen the likes of before. Surely there's a metaphor for something here, but I'll leave that up to your own interpretation. Check out the clip below, and don't forget that you can pre-order Until the Quiet Comes on iTunes now.
