Summer Williams Has Some 'Tales' To Tell

Many have been lamenting about the state of R&B and the crossroads where the genre seems to have found itself as of late. Joining the increasing chorus of voices asking what the hell is going on is Bounce-Worthy songstress Summer Williams. But instead of just flapping her gums and talking out the side of her neck, Summer has put her feelings about the subject in a song to get her point across on "Tales of a Soulstress." She calls out all those singers who sound the same, use Auto-Tune and have no message in their music while giving props to her hip-hop soul foremothers Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill. The track produced by Buda da Future and Grandzmuzik actually sounds like something that Blige would have hopped on and bopped to back in the day. It may sound like a throwback, but Summer makes it new and now. Listen out for Williams' upcoming EP in the months ahead, but in the between time download "Tales of a Soulstress" for free. For more hip-hop soulfullness, go back and cop Summer's Boom Bap Soul, Vol. 1 mixtape if you missed it last year.
