You Just May 'LUV' Common's New Movie

Our favorite rapper-turned-SAG card holder is at it again with a new movie that has been making waves on the film festival circuit and this time around, he adds the title of producer to his resume. Common's latest movie, LUV, has been set for a November 7th release date after getting positive reviews from festival goers earlier this year. The indie feature is set in Baltimore and centers on the tale of Woody, an 11-year-old who lives with his grandmother while his mom wages her own battle with drug addiction. Without a father figure in his life, Woody gravitates towards his uncle, portrayed by Common. However, he quickly realizes that life with his uncle isn't all that it's cracked up to be. The movie also features a star-studded cast that includes Charles S. Dutton, Meagan Good, Michael Kenneth Williams, Dennis Haysbert, Lonette McKee, Danny Glover and newcomer Michael Rainey Jr., as Woody. As a longtime fan of Com's music, I've been admittedly lukewarm on his acting skills. Judging by this short but sweet trailer, however, this gritty, dark drama just might make me a believer yet.
