Blood Orange Adds His Flavor To Lemonade's 'Neptune'

Are you familiar with Blood Orange? Though his recent collaboration with Solange, the infectious track "Losing You," has probably brought this incarnation of Devonté Hynes some attention, the artist formerly known as Lightspeed Champion has been buzzing around the industry for years. But with "Losing You" upping his profile a bit, it's only right that he strikes while the iron is hot. To that effort, he's covered Brooklyn indie trio Lemonade's buzz-building single "Neptune." The original track, a quiet storm meets emo jam that caught fire earlier this year, is a moody study in plaintive songwriting -- it's essentially what The Weeknd would sound like if he were a pop artist. Blood Orange takes the track and roots it in an electro-R&B atmosphere, punching up the bass while also being sure to include a guest verse from up-and-coming rapper Starchild. The end result is a track that has a somewhat '80's aesthetic yet could easily fit in with the chillwave vibes of artists like Toro y Moi. Take a listen below and see why you should be checking for whatever Blood Orange brings to the table.
