Bruno Mars Is 'Locked Out Of Heaven'

Oh, the soft spot I have for Bruno Mars. Still I don't coddle and pinch his cheeks too much considering he's going all bad boy lothario on his upcoming sophomore effort, Unorthodox Jukebox. I actually find it a relief that the cushy sing-a-longs that possessed his 2010 debut, Doo-Woops and Hooligans, will be on hold for Mars' second set, and it took one listen to Jukebox's first single, "Locked Out Of Heaven," for me to come to that lofty conclusion. Bouncing and rolling on a very The Police vibe (sounds like someone's been listen to 1981's Ghost In the Machine), "Locked Out Of Heaven" has Mars' experiencing some video voyeurism angst amid an in-the-pocket guitar grind that superbly coasts him into a direction less saccharine than what was heard on lovey-dovey anthems like "Grenade" and "Just the Way You Are." Not only is Mars shaking up his musical game, the pompadoured crooner will flex his comedic and acting chops when he'll be the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live come this October 20th. If his hilarious Funny Or Die sketch to Salt N' Pepa's "Whatta Man" was any indication, Mars does indeed possess some sharp comedic timing, making the possibilities for him pretty much endless. It's all about the music for now, as you can check the single after the bounce, and if you find yourself nodding your head and singing along (you will -- it is Bruno Mars after all) then hop on over to iTunes where the song can be purchased.
