I haven't really been keeping up with The Voice this season, but last season was a different story. I was on Team Jermaine Paul from giddy up and was pleased as punch when he won. But my reaction to his new single and accompanying music video couldn't be any further from that once happy happy joy feeling. As a matter of fact, the words that came to mind when I first pressed play to watch "I Believe In This Life" were "What kinda f--kery is THIS?" Gone is the soul that endeared Paul to myself and many of his fans only to be replaced with this soulless techno pile of pop poop that even the likes of Usher, Ne-Yo or Chris Brown would have likely passed on if they were smart. The use of Auto-Tune to mask Paul's beautiful voice simply adds insult to injury. I understand that we live in an age where R&B artists want to broaden their fan base and jump on the pop bandwagon, but this song is neither good nor catchy and the video isn't original nor something even worthy of a second viewing. No, Jermaine, I do not believe in this and this can't be life.
