Jade Alston Wants To Be Your 'Girl'

Philadelphia songstress Jade Alston has offered up her twist on a few '90's soul trends with her latest single "If I Was Your Girl." Sampling Brownstone's 1994 hit "If You Love Me" and serving up sultry alto Toni Braxton-esque vocals, Jade is looking to change your life by the end of this promising teaser. "If I Was Your Girl," written by Alston and Othniel Chambers, serves as the latest single in promotion for her forthcoming follow up EP, Sunday Morning: Single On A Saturday Night Pt. 2. Likening her writing style to that of Carrie Bradshaw, leading character on HBO's hit series Sex and The City and more recently on the CW's The Carrie Diaries, Jade Alston interestingly attributes her flow and delivery to a few hip-hop stars. "My style or approach to making music is like the singing, female version of Kanye West and Drake," she said. Catch Jade Alston performing in New York City next Wednesday, January 16th, at the Eric Roberson-hosted Sol Village showcase at S.O.B.'s, and be sure to download her Sunday Morning: Single On A Saturday Night Pt. 2 EP on January 29th. While you wait, enjoy the freebie of "If I Was Your Girl," and check for the song coupled with a picture montage of Ms. Alston after the bounce.
