Hear Laura Welsh 'Unravel'

Fresh off of successes with Solange and Sky Ferreira, Dev Hynes isn't dragging his feet into this year as he's laced his signature melancholic synth productions with yet another lucky lady of song. Going by various nom de plums such as Laura and The Tears and Hey Laura, singer-songwriter Laura Welsh has reverted back to her real name and is making a proper return with "Unravel." Co-produced and co-written by Hynes, Welsh slips into this effortless mood piece about a love affair gone askew amid cushioned synths and a persistent percussive bass, her impressive husky vocal tone anchored in its murk. Sure she comes off sounding aligned to fellow British chanteuses like Jessie Ware and Delilah (okay, okay she definitely sounds like Ware's next-of-kin in her "wildest moments"), but there is always room for one more moody electro-soul darling isn't there? If you find yourself feeling what Welsh is delivering, then "Unravel" is available for free download at her Facebook page.
