So So Def Celebrates Its Star-Studded 20th Anniversary

You know how I know I'm old? I found my seventh gray hair this past week, I'm considerably older than most of the people on the Billboard charts at the moment and Hollywood has made most of my Saturday morning cartoons into sucky movies. Another reminder of me getting older is the fact that So So Def Recordings, the record label brainchild of hip-hop gnome producer Jermaine Dupri, recently celebrated its 20th (!!!) anniversary over the weekend. Home to artists like Xscape, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Da Brat and Kris Kross, the label kept the '90s and early '00s rocking. And, even though it hasn't had as large an impact in recent years, news of all these acts coming together to pay tribute is enough to make any 30-something perk up with interest. On Sunday night at Atlanta's Fox Theatre, all the aforementioned stars and more came together to tribute the label and, most importantly, its founder as hit after hit that JD was responsible for kept heads nodding and fans screaming. It even culminated with American Idol diva Mariah Carey rolling out a cake to celebrate. Sounds like it was a good night to be in the A. To make sure you feel as old as I do, check out a now very grown up Kris Kross tearing through their hits below. And, after the bounce, you can check out surprise appearances from Monica, Usher and Jay-Z. For more footage, be sure to hit up Miss Info.
