Chrisette Michele is one of those artists for whom, in my opinion, the material they release doesn't quite match up to their talents. However, when paired with a great song, as she was on her debut album and on Robert Glasper's Black Radio, she can do no wrong. Her voice is always on point, and this beautiful acoustic version of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is no exception. Stripping the song back and slowing it down, this is no run-of-the-mill cover. In fact I would go as far as to say this is the best non-Whitney rendition of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" I have heard, period.
